SPRAVATO® Treatment Center For Southern Illinois
What is SPRAVATO® or Esketamine?
Similar to intravenous ketamine, nasal Esketamine operates through the glutamate neural pathway, enhancing levels of glutamate in the brain to alleviate symptoms in patients with Treatment Resistant Depression. The positive aspect is that Esketamine / Spravato® is widely covered by most insurances, offering accessibility and potential relief to those who need it. This breakthrough treatment represents a promising option for individuals seeking effective relief from the challenges of Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD).
The Albany Clinic in Carbondale Illinois specializes in SPRAVATO® esketamine nasal-spray treatment.
SPRAVATO® is a registered trademark of Johnson & Johnson and its affiliated companies

How SPRAVATO® Treatment Works
Spravato® is a prescription medication brand designed for treatment-resistant depression (when two or more traditional methods are ineffective) and for managing suicidal thoughts for adults with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). This
nasal spray medication has the potential to alleviate depression symptoms in just a few hours which makes it a sought after treatment for depression when time to relief is critical.
Spravato® elevates an individual's glutamate levels, which is the brain's most prevalent chemical messenger. Due to its wide-reaching effects, the glutamatergic system has a greater impact on multiple cells simultaneously. The primary component of Spravato® (esketamine) is recognized for fostering synapses between brain cells which are often lacking in individuals dealing with depression. By influencing more cells at once, these connections are more likely to elicit the full effects of the medication.
SPRAVATO® is often used for rapid relief from depression, transcending traditional timelines of typical treatment options. Although it is in the form of a nasal spray, only certain mental health facilities (SPRAVATO® REMS) can offer this treatment option.
SPRAVATO® helped Nicole’s treatment-resistant depression. Now, she’s resuming her education and sharing her story.
